As a writer and editor, I founded the SUNHOUSE organization, which included a literary journal and a teen mentorship program. Besides running the organization, I designed all of its materials, including two websites and a number of social media graphics.

ABOUT THE SUNHOUSE

Building the brand

The SUNHOUSE brand was built around the image of a house in a forest: a comforting, glowing haven admist the chaos of modern life.

Utilizing warm oranges and greens, the magazine and mentorship nonetheless maintained their own distinct identities, with the mentorship catering towards a younger audience. Focusing on accessibility and readability, I aimed to balance design with clarity so that viewers could focus on reading.

Past contributors and staff have worked with/for the Atlantic, Random House, Harvard Review, the New York Times, Oxford University, the National Book Foundation, the Ohio Arts Council, the Malala Fund, the Fulbright Program, Copper Canyon Press, the PEN/Faulkner Foundation, and more.

A creative writing summer mentorship pairing adult mentors with teen mentees. Now in its third year, mentors have worked with the MacDowell Foundation, CNN, the New York Times, Poetry Foundation, Tin House, Goodreads, the MET, Lambda Literary, the White House, TEDx, Best American Essays, Vox, the Singapore National Arts Council, and more.
